"Superfruit" Preserve

An RD (dietitian) rates a “superfruit” preserve in a cooking magazine as a best new food for nutrition and taste. 


She neglects to mention that the only antioxidant present in the preserves is coming from added vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and not from the “superfruits” in the jar (which have had any antioxidants, especially vitamin C, cooked/processed out). Plenty of fruits are high in vitamin C when fresh, but lose most of it when cooked or otherwise processed.
