USDA Approval of Nutrition Labels?

A nutrition analysis company says it provides “USDA-approved nutrition labels.”

Neither USDA nor FDA “approves” any nutrition labels. FDA does, however, oversee and enforce the NLEA (Nutrition Labeling and Education Act), which sets forth the regulations for nutrition labeling. It is important that whoever does the nutrition analysis for a food product or menu item know these regulations, including the fact that there is no “approval” process for nutrition labeling.
