"Superfood" pumpkin seeds nutrient claims
- Details
- Created on 14, June, 2020
A pumpkin seed snack is described on the package as being an "antioxidant superfood" and "packed full of" various nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids and potassium.
The labeling of this product has multiple errors, mostly for nutrient claims that are not backed up in the Nutrition Facts. There is no antioxidant nutrient showing on the nutrition panel at a level of at least 10% of the Daily Value; there is no data at all for omega-3 fatty acids; and potassium shows as only 7% of Daily Value per serving, which is not a good source, and therefore does not qualify for a claim such as "packed with." Additionally, the serving size is incorrect. It shows as 1.1 oz (which will illegitimately inflate all nutrition data), when it should be 1 oz.
